Studio E actors sign with great agencies!

So first I have to explain this picture. One of the moms in our program, Alisa Griner, made this incredible cake. If you look closely, the entire cake is full of headshots of all Studio E members that were involved in our last showcase. AMAZING - seriously amazing. For the showcase in January, Alisa made everyone Studio E cookies with our logo on it. I have no idea what we would do without the amazing moms (and dads!!) in our program. They help behind stage, they bring goodies, they help supervise, they are UNREAL! They are not only outstanding parents, but have become our family as well and we love them all!!! As for the agency news - every February and June we put up a showcase which we present to agents, managers, casting directors, directors, and producers. 50% of our kids get approached after every showcase by agents and managers! "Dance like nobody is watching!"

Dance class was AWESOME! We were very fortunate to work with Joshua McBride, professional actor and dancer with Diablo Dance Company! Josh taught us some hip-hop and freestyle moves and choreographed a dance. This dance class really helped us open up and find our own style of grooving and moving! I do cast a lot of spots where the actors are required to dance and be silly and this class certainly helped us find the fun in dancing - even if it isn't our favorite thing to do. Some of the boys were complaining at the beginning and by the end they were slapping high fives and having a blast! Thanks Josh for such an incredible experience - can't wait to have you back in the fall!

On-Camera Audition Technique

Classes last week were terrific. Saturday and Sunday were both dedicated to on-camera commercial audition technique, which can be very difficult. How can we make boring commercial copy fun? Ask Michael Andrew. He was having the time of his life up there doing his Baked Veggie Crisps copy. We all could not stop laughing! Alex stayed strong with her "hunka hunka" commercial copy, and as usual Miranda made us all laugh hysterical using her southern accent while singing the opening of her Betty Crocker commercial.

Each actor entered the room as they would an audition. They would greet us, slate, and act! We had all the actors in front of the camera. We try to do this every month to get the actors familiar with the camera and to help them really focus and control their energy. Since we are on a stage for most of the classes, it is easy to go really big and over the top. The camera reminds us to control our actions and make it real.

At the end of class, we left some time for improv. Zayd, Ranya, Erica & Kiana blew us all away with their wedding florist sketch comedy. They really listened to each other, fed off one another and invited the audience into the world they created. HYSTERICAL!

Each week the kids, pre-teens & teens give 100%. We are so proud to have such an incredible group of actors and actresses! Stay tuned for details about this weekend - our improv / scene study workshop.
